it is a very important that you only use products on the Vachetta leather of your LV bags, that expressly state that they are for Vachetta. Other names for Vachetta leather are: Unfinished Leather or Veg Tanned Leather
This is an artisan leather, which is highly desired for luxury goods What makes it different than most other leathers, is that it’s not sealed after its tanned By not sealing it, it allows the color to change or patina over time. This brings out the beauty of the leather, but it also makes it to be susceptible to damage from exposure to every day living
By using the proper care products, you can avoid most of the unwanted effects of owning Vachetta leather on your LV bag
One thing to realize however, is that no matter how high end or expensive a leather cleaner or conditioner product is, if it’s not made for Vachetta leather, it will dry out the leather fibers and ruin the leather It may take time to see the effects, but it will happen People on YouTube recommend the most horrific things for Vachetta and this misinformation is very disheartening. To spend so much on a gorgeous LV bag, and then listen to someone who sounds so sure about using Cadillac Cleaner, Apple Care, or magic eraser, just breaks our hearts
We have extensive knowledge on Vachetta leather and worked specifically with a chemist to develop our Vachetta leather care products. Our products will not ruin your Vachetta and will help to maintain the health and thereby beauty of your Vachetta
Our cleaner and conditioner duo is meant for maintenance care They are not restorative products Meaning, they won’t turn back the clock on damage done to your Vachetta, but they will maintain the health in its current state and prevent most all of the unwanted issues that happen with Vachetta
The cleaner and conditioner work as a pair to give basic health to the leather The cleaner will remove surface residue, but it also penetrates into the fibers to bring out deeper dirt accumulation. Always follow the cleaner with the conditioner, so as not to dry out the fibers The conditioner will add hydration to the deeper leather fibers, not just the surface it also has some protection elements built in to give minor deterrence from water, dirt and other potential stains
Vachetta is meant to Patina, or deepen in color over time, but it shouldn’t get darker than a nice Amber color. When you see Vachetta with brown coloring, it means the fibers of the leather weren’t taken care of with regular cleaning and conditioning. When the fibers aren’t cleaned, hydrated and conditioner, the loose there plumpness, suppleness and get stiff, dry and start to darken and crack.
If you think about Vachetta being similar to our own skin, it will help you to understand better how to care for it. It will also help you see how leaving it uncared for will lead to unsightly results
Our cleaner and conditioner are meant to prevent these exact problems:
- no darkening to a brown shade
- no stiffness
- no dryness
- no cracking
- no dull, old looking appearance
Use the cleaner first, let it dry and then apply the conditioner. The cleaner will temporarily darken your Vachetta, but it will return to it’s original color once it drys The only exception to this is brand new Vachetta. Applying any products, including those made for Vachetta to brand new Vachetta, will make the color slightly darker. It is still worth a slight darkening for all the value and protection to gain by using these products
Use the conditioner after the cleaner. You can apply liberally, but after a point, the leather fibers will only be able to absorb so much it’s better to do s light coat, let it dry over night then add more conditioner the next day.
Our products can’t damage your leather unless you excessively run them into your Vachetta. We do mean excessively, so don’t worry. Any normal application will do no harm, but if you have a water stain and aggressively keep rubbing the cleaner on it to try to remove it, you could damage it in this case. Water stains are extremely hard to get rid of, which is why we highly recommend you use our products, so that you don’t get them in the first place
We highly recommend that you use the cleaner & conditioner quarterly at a minimum. For those that are enthusiastic about maintenance, it’s acceptable to apply monthly.
We are a small company and aren’t set up to take returns, but if there’s a quality issue, please let us know What we aren’t able to do, is take a return because the products “didn’t work” They work great! But they will not restore a damaged bag, they will only provide maintenance to keto your bag in its current condition and improve upon its health with continual use If you buy the products thinking they’ll do something other than maintenance, we are sorry that you didn’t understand, but have expressed that these are not restorative products many times in this description
